• Dacia sold 257,594 cars in 2008
• Exports exceed the 172,000-unit level
• France and Germany, the first two export destinations
• Good commercial start of Sandero on the local and international markets
In 2008, Dacia sold 257,594 cars, 11.7% more against 2007, while most of car markets worldwide dropped dramatically as a result of the financial crisis. In Romania, the decline of the automotive market was worsened by the imports of used cars, most of which are more than 10 years old. Consequently, Dacia sales in Romania totaled 84,708 units- 17% less against last year – distributed between 75,240 personal vehicles and 9,468 commercial vehicles.

Dacia exports reached 172,886 units, 34.6% more against 2007. Practically, two-thids of the Dacia-badged cars sold in 2008 were registered outside Romania.
Western Europe is the mais export destination for Dacia, with over 60% of total deliveries on external markets.
France is the first export destination, with 43,682 Dacia vehicles in 2008 – 9,419 of which were Sandero. At the end of December, Dacia had 1.7% of the French market-share. The number of cars registered in France exceeded the 100,000-level, only four years after the Romanian brand entered the French market.
Germany is the second export destination for Dacia, with 25,506 cars sold – 6,340 of which were Sandero.
Ukraine (13,755 units), Algeria (12,000 units), Turkey (9,578 units), Italy (8,623 units) and Spain (6,974 units) follow the two Western European countries as Dacia export markets.
In Morocco, where the Logan model is manufactured at the SOMACA plant in Casablanca, 14,996 units were sold.
